Scientific interests

My research activities focus on the broad topic of ultra-intense laser plasma interactions, with applications in plasma based particle acceleration and light sources, particularly superradiant ones. I am particularly interested in the novel research directions opened by the internal spatiotemporal degrees of freedom of charged particle beams and intense laser pulses. Here, the orbital angular momentum of light is one of the most fascinating examples. I also maintain connection with experiments as much as possible. I am currently involved with the AWAKE experiment at CERN, was the PI of the E-209 self-modulation experiment at SLAC, and maintain a collaboration with several experimental physicists. Feel free to drop me an email if want to know about research opportunities in these areas.
